Bio

Samir is the Staff Accountant at Cook Ross. Samir oversees accounting services including accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial statements, and minor business administrative tasks at Cook Ross. Samir graduated from Montgomery College with an Associate degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting.   Samir brings more than 15 years of accounting and finance experience working with local companies in Montgomery County. Prior to joining Cook Ross, Samir worked with a nonprofit organization, financial institute, and telecommunication company. His commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) work at Cook Ross is to provide operational excellence and serve as a partner to colleagues and clients during the project or delivery finance closeout processes. Samir’s honesty, integrity and professionalism are qualities that many people appreciate. He enjoys spending time with his family, friends, watching and playing sports, board, and video games. Lastly, Samir actively volunteers in nonprofit organizations.

Do you think people can really change?

Change is a possibility, not a given. It’s important to recognize that people can change, but it’s just as important to know when to move on. In most cases, change doesn’t happen until someone wants it for themselves. 

What belief took you the longest to unlearn?

I had to learn it the hard way that the past may most certainly affect you, but it’s the knowledge of life that you gain and eventually move on from it that matters the most. Your present and the actions and decisions you take, are what’s going to shape you into the amazing human being you are going to be. 
Don’t live in the past. Take a grip of your present and you will hold the reigns to your bright future.
